The Pigeons Cave
The shaded swim-stop finale of the Caves Tour
The Pigeons Cave is where our Caves Tour finishes on a high — a shaded recess in the cliffs between Jale and Gjipe with deep, clear water, where wild rock pigeons nest above the entrance and there's time for a final swim and snorkel.
Smaller than the Pirate's Cave, the Pigeons Cave (Shpella e Pëllumbave) is a recess in the cliff face rather than a cave you motor through. Wild rock pigeons nest in the limestone hollows above the entrance — you'll often hear and see them flying in and out — which is how the cave got its name.
The water here is deep, clear and shaded by the overhanging rock, which makes it one of the better snorkel stops on the coast and a cool place to swim on a hot afternoon. With snorkelling gear provided on board, it's an easy spot to drift over the rocky seabed before the cruise home.

Frequently asked questions
Why is it called the Pigeons Cave?
Wild rock pigeons (the ancestor of city pigeons) nest in the limestone hollows above the cave entrance — you'll often see and hear them. Some operators translate the Albanian name, Shpella e Pëllumbave, as 'Doves Cave'; it's the same cave.
Can you snorkel at the Pigeons Cave?
Yes — it's one of the better snorkel stops on the coast. The water is deep and clear, shaded by the overhanging cliff, with rocky features and small fish along the cave wall. Snorkelling gear is provided on board.
Which tour visits the Pigeons Cave?
It's the final swim stop on our Caves Tour from Dhërmi, after the Pirate's Cave and the cruise past Gjipe Beach and Canyon.
