Saint Andrew Bay
A sealed-in white-pebble cove on the Karaburun coast
Saint Andrew Bay is one of the first big stops on our Gramma Bay & Blue Cave Tour — a tiny, sealed-in white-pebble cove on the eastern flank of the Karaburun Peninsula, hemmed in by cliffs and reachable only by boat.
Saint Andrew Bay (Gjiri i Shën Andreut) is barely 50 metres of bright white pebbles, with cliffs dropping straight into crystal-clear water on either side. There is no village, no road and no kiosk — just rock, sea and a small chapel dedicated to Saint Andrew that gave the bay its name, where sailors historically anchored under the saint's protection.
It sits roughly halfway between Palasë and Gramma Bay on the Karaburun coast. The water clarity is exceptional and the sea floor drops off sharply close to shore, so it's a beautiful swim and snorkel stop — we time the tour for the calmer morning hours, when the light is best and the crossing is smoothest.

Frequently asked questions
Can you reach Saint Andrew Bay by car?
No. There's no road. The bay is reachable only by boat from the sea, or on a long hike from Palasë village or through Llogara National Park. We reach it by sea from Dhërmi on the Gramma Bay & Blue Cave Tour.
Why is it called Saint Andrew Bay?
For a small chapel dedicated to Saint Andrew (Shën Andre) set near the cove. Sailors historically anchored here under the saint's protection, and the name stuck.
What's the water like for swimming?
Exceptionally clear, with a white-pebble beach. The sea floor drops off sharply within a few metres of shore, so weaker swimmers should stay close to the boat. Water shoes help on the pebbles.
